ABS launched the ABS Global Sustainability Center with a mission to help shipping transition to a sustainable, lower emissions industry. Located at the ABS offices in Singapore (Alexandra Point), the Center is the flagship of ABS sustainability activities across the globe.
To facilitate the journey toward decarbonization targets, the Global Sustainability Center coordinates initiatives that advance innovation and technology development focused on safety, practicality and the commercial viability of proposed solutions.
The advanced facility is the flagship of ABS sustainability activities across the globe. The center is led by Gurinder Singh, ABS Director of Global Sustainability, and includes a team of professionals with diverse backgrounds and expertise, supported by the worldwide ABS organization.

The Center is also designed to be a place of innovation and creativity to bring together industry and academia for the benefit of a sustainable maritime future, including an industry education program of seminars and lectures to raise awareness of sustainability technologies and carbon reduction strategies across the maritime industry. ABS is working with key local universities – Singapore’s Nanyang Technological University and the National University of Singapore – on academic support and engagement programs.
