SSE 9 Brief
The IMO Ship Systems and Equipment (SSE) Sub-Committee held its 9th session remotely from February 27 to March 3, 2023. This Brief provides an overview of the more significant issues discussed at this session, which include matters pertaining to new standards for Lifeboat Ventilation, enhanced Fire Protection Requirements for Ro-Ro Passenger Ships, updates to the Code of Safety for Diving Systems, and new Interim Guidelines for Onshore Power Supply. While new regulations developed by the SSE Sub-Committee are not finalized until approved by the Maritime Safety Committee (MSC), a review of the Sub-Committee’s activity can provide a forecast of future regulatory developments.
