ABS raised the profile of its Operation and Environmental Performance (OEP) offering at Marintec China 2015, in Shanghai, one of the most recognized maritime trade shows in Asia. ABS Vice President of Operational and Environmental Performance (OEP) Dr. Xiaozhi (Christina) Wang, and others from ABS leveraged the Marintec event to share insights on environmental technologies and sustainability.
In addition to participating at the show, the OEP team hosted a seminar, “Sustainability Aspects in Marine Design & Operations” on 2 December 2015, addressing operational and environmental performance, LNG as a fuel, Ship Recycling Convention and the Inventory of Hazardous Materials, EU monitoring, reporting and verification (MRV) of CO2 emissions in shipping. ABS presenters included Dr. Wang, Dr. Franck Violette, Director of OEP China, Sebastien Le Moigne, Manager of Global Gas Solutions and Mei Yan Soh, Senior Engineer Specialist of OEP in the ABS Pacific Division.
Dr. Wang also delivered a keynote speech at the conference the following day, titled “Environmental Technologies, A Holistic Approach to Regulatory Compliance” in the Shanghai Society of Naval Architects and Ocean Engineers (SSNAOE) Symposium on Ocean Engineering Equipment & Ship Type Development and Design at the Marintec China 2015 Senior Maritime Forum. Dr. Wang shared some of ABS’ innovative solutions to the challenges brought about by regulatory compliance.
Dr. Violette also participated in the Symposium, delivering a technical presentation titled, “Future Proofing Assets, ABS Approach to Technology Readiness”.
This exhibition, attracted more than 2,000 exhibitors, including 17 national and group pavilions, and was attended by 61,997 visitors comprising industry experts from state-owned enterprises, leading Chinese shipbuilders, and major universities.
