Port State Control Management Seminar

More than 140 representatives including, owners, operators, designers, and shipbuilders joined ABS in Istanbul on 13 December for another highly successful seminar on Port State Control management and the latest environmental and regulatory updates.

Port State Control Management Seminar Attendees

Stamatis Fradelos, Senior Principal Engineer, Operational and Environmental Performance department provided an overview of the significant issues progressed at MEPC 70 and the impact on shipowners and operators. Attendees were updated on Ballast Water Management developments as well as the latest USCG, EPA and California requirements.  In addition MARPOL Annex V amendments and the latest NOx, SOx and CO2 Emissions regulations were discussed.

Dimitrios Houliarakis, Vice President And Assistant Chief Surveyor, presented Port State Control Management providing insight on statistics of the most common deficiencies found on board, the most active ports and the responsibilities of the master and owner.

The seminar concluded with Nikos Goudoulias, Director Regional Sales, discussing the software solutions that ABS Nautical Systems can provide to support data collection and reporting. 

The high attendance at this Istanbul seminar highlights the importance placed on environmental regulatory issues, compliance and performance by ship owners and operators.  The ABS seminar program is integral to the provision of advice and practical guidance on the implications and implementation of new maritime regulations.
