ABS Advanced Solutions Signs Memorandum of Understanding with CyberSecurity Malaysia

ABS Advanced Solutions has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM). CSM is a national agency under the Malaysia Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation. The agency’s primary responsibility is to provide cyber security services for the Malaysian government, reduce the vulnerability of Malaysian digital systems and strengthen the country’s autonomy in cyber environments.

With this memorandum, ABS Advanced Solutions has been selected as the preferred cyber security partner for marine transportation. Through this agreement, ABS Advanced Solutions will provide cyber security assistance to Ministry of Transport Malaysia including ports, terminals, government vessels and other maritime assets.

“The ABS Advanced Solutions team is eager to work with CyberSecurity Malaysia. Operational technology (OT) cyber security is one of the most pressuring issues facing the marine and offshore industries. This MoU is the first step to strengthening cyber protection for Malaysia’s ports, vessels and maritime operations,” said Joseph Woods, ABS Advanced Solutions Vice President of Business Development.

ABS Advanced Solutions will help CyberSecurity Malaysia with cyber security trainings and assessments as well the development of new cyber security programs.

CyberSecurity Malaysia CEO Dr. Amirudin Abdul Wahab said, “This MoU with the American Bureau of Shipping is the first partnership of its kind in Southeast Asia. This agreement signals that CyberSecurity Malysia is now embarking into cyber risk management for the maritime sector.”
