ABS has supported the MCE Deepwater Development (MCEDD) event for many years with Ken Richardson, ABS’ Executive Vice President, Global Offshore, serving as a member of the MCEDD Advisory Board.

Organized by Quest Offshore and World Oil and hosted by BP in London, the event brought together over 400 strategic decision makers from the deepwater oil and gas market. At a time when the industry is confronting new challenges, sharing experiences and lessons learned plays a critical role in improving the quality, safety, and economics which are vital to the future of the industry.

On day two of the conference, ABS Global Offshore Director Luiz Feijo delivered a presentation on “Floating Production Units in the Digital Era”. The presentation discussed the application of digital technologies on floating production units and its impact on OPEX and on design and construction. “The digital revolution is here to stay. Application of digital technologies have been the norm in other industries and is already becoming a reality in the offshore world,” said Feijo.

Demetri Stroubakis, ABS Director, Global Business Development presented on “Remote Inspection Technology (RIT) for Manufacturing and Operations”. He highlighted the benefits of new remote inspection technology. “New remote inspection technology will improve data capture efficiency. The improvement will offer options to asset owners and equipment manufacturers to improve safety, reduce costs and realize scheduling efficiencies of in-shop and onboard survey of equipment and structures,” mentioned Stroubakis.
