ABS Discusses World Shipping and Shipbuilding Outlook at Government-Hosted Forum in Nantong

Recognized as technical advisor, ABS was invited to present at a government-hosted forum in Nantong, to assist Nantong marine and offshore enterprises in better understanding market conditions by sharing ABS insights on world shipping and shipbuilding outlook.

On May 17th , Michel Labrie, ABS Greater China Division (GCD) Hua Zhong (China Central) District Manager, delivered the presentation on behalf of ABS, addressing world trade and energy landscape and its impact on shipping and shipbuilding industry from the perspective of class society.

The forum, entitled “Face to Face Communication of Entrepreneurs, the Symposium on Transformation and Upgrading Development of Nantong Offshore & Marine Industry”, was hosted by Nantong Provincial Party Committee and Nantong Municipal People’s Government.  The objective of the symposium was to assist Nantong shipbuilding and offshore enterprises transform and upgrade by analyzing the market trends and sharing experience and successful practice. Lu, Zhipeng, Secretary of Nantong Provincial Party Committee; Han Liming, Mayor of Nantong Municipal Government and Guo, Dacheng, Chairman of China Association of National Shipbuilding Industry attended the Symposium.

“Despite the challenging market conditions, we have committed to providing innovative solutions, technical support, and value-added services to Chinese marine and offshore industry.” Labrie said, “As one of the most important shipbuilding bases in China, Nantong has always been strategic development area to ABS.”

In Hua Zhong (China Central) District and across GCD, ABS has carried out extensive cooperation with shipyards on cutting-edge projects, recent examples including world’s first CNG ship, and 45,000 cbm Type A LNG carrier, both being in Nantong area. Moreover, ABS has been offering trainings and organizing seminars for local shipyards and MSA station to support their needs.
