ABS to Launch New Web Portal for Equipment Manufacturers
(Houston, TX) The management of class approved equipment will soon be simplified as the result of ABS launching its new Supply portal, a website designed specifically to meet the needs of marine-related equipment manufacturers.
Integrated into the My Eagle customer web portal, the new Supply interface will provide equipment manufacturers a simple online tool that manages their products’ class-related information from design to fabrication.
Managing traditional product design reviews as well as certification through the ABS Type Approval program, customers will be able to create new items, request design reviews and surveys, view comments and track findings. Design requests may also include calculations run through the online ABS Web Calc Structural and Machinery programs to improve service delivery time.
“The user experience really sets this tool apart from other web-based class programs,” says ABS President and COO Chris Wiernicki. “Before, manufacturers have had to work with the online software developed for designers or ship operators who have a different focus. Now they will have the details of their class services presented in a format that makes the most sense to them.”
Select ABS customers will have access to the portal in October when ABS launches its preview release. General availability is scheduled for January 2011.
Founded in 1862, ABS is a leading international classification society devoted to promoting the security of life, property and the marine environment through the development and verification of standards for the design, construction and operational maintenance of marine-related facilities.
