COSCO, ABS Discuss Latest in Trends in Offshore Technology

During the recently held Offshore Technology Conference in Houston, a group of COSCO’s senior leadership met with members of the ABS executive team to discuss the latest trends and innovation in the offshore energy sector. Highlights of the discussion included COSCO’s new floating gas production storage and offloading (FGPSO) concept, the market outlook for the shipping and offshore sectors and the impact of future requirements on the industry.

“As oil prices rebound, we have seen cautious optimism return in the offshore sector,” said Liang Yanfeng, COSCO Shipping Heavy Industry President “We have worked closely with ABS for more than 20 years, so it is important to continue that strong relationship as we look to develop new technologies and concepts.”

COSCO has worked with ABS on a broad range of marine and offshore assets, including containerships, tankers and high-specification units for offshore, such as mid-water drilling rigs, offshore support vessels, and floating, production, storage and offloading vessels.

ABS COO Tony Nassif acknowledged the working relationship and history the two companies share and the value of continuing to look for opportunities to work together in the future. “COSCO is a valued ABS client and an important innovator in industry. We look forward to our continued relationship and working together to enhance safety and sustainability in the marine and offshore industries,” he said.
