ABS Global Operations Centers

Delivering the Next Evolution of Class Through Applied Technologyand 24/7 Global Support

The ABS Global Operations Centers (GOCs) provide asset owners and operators with one globally connected model for survey and classification support, engineering and technical services, urgent response and technology-enabled delivery. Through 24/7, follow-the-sun coordination, the GOCs connect ABS expertise across regions to improve responsiveness, reduce operational disruption and keep time-sensitive operations moving.

Keep Operations Moving with Global Coordination

Fleet operations do not stop at the end of the local workday. Compliance deadlines, technical questions, damage incidents and class-related requests can arise at any time, requiring fast, coordinated support across disciplines and regions.

Through a follow-the-sun operating structure, the GOCs function as one globally connected network rather than separate locations or service channels. Work can continue across time zones, connecting clients with the appropriate ABS expertise and providing more consistent, responsive support wherever they operate.Prepare Earlier

How the GOCs Work

Global Support Across the Vessel Lifecycle

Through a globally connected operating model, the GOCs connect clients with ABS survey, engineering and technical expertise, coordinating eligible activities across regions and helping move requests efficiently from planning through completion.

Plan and Execute Surveys

Support for preparing, coordinating and completing eligible survey and class activities.

Survey Planning and Technical Support

Supports Data-Enabled Verification case preparation, evidence planning, survey coordination and connection to the appropriate ABS technical and operational resources.

Data-Enabled Verification

Supports shore-based review of digital evidence for eligible activities. Data-Enabled Verification may support Advance Review and, where permitted, full or partial crediting of Applicable Survey Tasks. Evidence evaluation and crediting remain subject to ABS Surveyor review and applicable requirements.

Manage Class and Asset Transitions

Coordinated support for changes in class status and evolving asset requirements.

Transfer of Class

Centralized workflow coordination and stakeholder communication for assets transferring to ABS, connecting owners with the appropriate ABS Survey, Engineering and operational resources.

Condition-Based Class

Operational coordination for services that use accepted data and condition-monitoring approaches within applicable ABS requirements.

Accelerate Technical and Engineering Support

Efficient access to ABS engineering resources for defined technical needs on existing vessels.

Accelerated Engineering Review

Provides an efficient pathway for defined, limited-scope engineering reviews. Qualified GOC engineers manage eligible requests through review and completion, including selected structural and machinery modifications, repair reviews, cargo-list updates for individual cargo additions, regulatory documentation and other approved engineering activities.

Respond to Urgent Situations

Around-the-clock coordination when rapid access to specialized support is critical.

Rapid Response Damage Assessment (RRDA) Contact and Routing

For clients enrolled in RRDA, the GOC provides 24/7 incident-call reception, structured information capture, notification and escalation to the appropriate RRDA engineering responders.

With four globally connected hubs, ABS follows the work across time zones to help keep client requests progressing.

The GOCs help clients navigate DEV from planning through verification, coordinating eligible activities, supporting evidence preparation and connecting clients with the appropriate ABS resources. This globally coordinated approach helps enable earlier review and more focused verification.

The GOCs create a connected pathway to ABS expertise worldwide, bringing together Survey, Engineering and specialist resources to help clients navigate needs efficiently and keep operations moving.
