As a divisional initiative and a strategy, a series of Shipbrokers VIP Forums has been hosted periodically by the ABS Greater China Division (GCD) since February 2015. More than 80 participants from different industry segments such as marine and offshore financial institutions, insurance companies, owners, shipbuilders, and operators took part in the forum.
As of July 2015, 3 Shipbrokers VIP Forums have been respectively conducted with various subject matters in February, April, and July. The subject for the first Forum was “The Correlation between The Crude Oil Price and Offshore Industry”, which attracted about 25 shipbrokers attending. The second Forum was under the theme “Offshore Market Prospects and Opportunities”, expanding audience to include marine and offshore financial institutions and insurance companies.
The latest Forum was conducted recently highlighting “Statutory Regulation Update” to help attendees to have a better understanding of upcoming regulations and feasible solutions for compliance challenges.
Positive and enthusiastic feedback from participants has proved that the Shipbrokers VIP Forum is not only an open platform for shipbrokers to receive latest technology and regulations support from ABS, but also an effective channel for participants to seek cooperation opportunities. Through exchanging views and sharing valuable information, the Forum also brings ABS the latest market information.
The Shipbrokers VIP Forum, which is determined to be conducted throughout 2015, is going to be a long-term event and continue to be hosted by ABS GCD every two months.
