Guinness World Records has recognized Keppel Offshore & Marine subsidiary Keppel FELS as the largest manufacturer of offshore rigs for 2013, delivering 21 units to its customers in the course of the year.
ABS classed Keppel FELS’ entire fleet of 21 new rigs over the course of 2013. This is the most number of rig deliveries by a company in a single year.
ABS Pacific Division President and COO Derek Novak says the role ABS played in this landmark achievement is based on a longtime relationship with Keppel FELS.
“ABS is proud to work with the team at Keppel FELS and is pleased to have played a role in this world-record achievement. The pace of work at the Keppel yards has continued through 2014, and meeting delivery targets has required close cooperation and coordination at each stage of the process.”
The ABS team in the divisional office in Singapore worked with the global ABS team and engineers at the ABS Singapore Innovation and Research Center to support Keppel FELS in all 21 projects, while onsite surveyors offered support during construction and operations.
“ABS is honored to be the preferred class society for the offshore and energy sector and will continue to help in developing technical solutions in cooperation with industry as operating frontiers change.”
