Achieving Sustainable Safety Objectives with SEMS

On the US Offshore Continental Shelf, operators are obliged to comply with the SEMS (Safety and Environmental Management Systems) regulation, and as part of meeting that obligation, must address aspects of assessing and improving HSE performance. In addition, the SEMS 2 regulation enforced by the Bureau of Safety and Environmental Enforcement (BSEE) includes four additional elements and requires compliance audits led by independent third parties, the organizations of which can help operators meet their SEMS obligations and improve HSE performance.
