Petrobras Announces Start-up of ABS-classed P-61 Platform

Petrobras recently announced the start-up of the ABS-classed P-61 platform in the Papa Terra field in the Campos Basin. In a water depth of 1,200 meters, the P-61 platform - together with the ABS-classed FPSO P-63 - create the Papa Terra field production project.

The topside of P-61 was built at the Keppel Felds shipyard in Singapore. The hull and mating operation were completed at the Brasfels shipyard in Rio de Janeiro.

The P-61 tension leg platform is connected to a tender assisted drilling platform and is equipped with a drilling and well completion rig, marking a first for this type of platform operating in Brazil. The wells of P-61 are of the dry completion type, meaning the well control valves are located on the platform, instead of on the sea floor.
