CARB Fuel Regulation Notice

CARB Fuel Regulation Notice

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) issued a marine notice advising that, as of 1 August 2012, oceangoing vessels are required to use low sulfur marine distillate fuels (marine gas oil at or below 1.0 percent sulfur or marine diesel oil at or below 0.5 percent sulfur) in their main and auxiliary engines and boilers when operating within 24 nm of the California coast. These requirements are in addition to the low sulfur fuel requirements of the North American Emission Control Area (ECA) which will be enforced from 1 August 2012.
