USCG Clarifications on Non-Tank Vessel Response Plan Final Rule

The USCG has issued a bulletin clarifying the requirements for non-tank vessel response plans. The USCG advises that:

  • 30 January 2014 is the date by which a vessel owner or operator of a vessel subject to the final rule is required to submit (to the USCG) and operate under a vessel response plan that meets the new regulatory requirements
  • Non-tank vessels with existing Interim Operating Authorizations (IOAs) issued by the USCG must resubmit their plan, with required revisions, for approval before 30 January 2014
  • The final rule requires the submission of VRP control numbers for both tank and non-tank vessels as part of already required notice of arrival information
