The United States Coast Guard (USCG) has posted "Frequently Asked Questions and Answers, Volume II (Alternate Management Systems (AMS) and Type Approval of Ballast Water Management Systems (BWMS))" providing more details on how the USCG will make determinations for AMS and type approval of BWMS under its "Standards for Living Organisms in Ships' Ballast Water Discharged in US Waters."
