Dan Ilteris is Vice President and Chief Surveyor at ABS, where he acts as the organization’s overall technical authority for survey, establishing policies, training requirements and survey rules while supporting global operations and business development initiatives.
Ilteris began his career as a marine engineer in the United States Merchant Marines, where he managed vessel engineering departments and was recognized for maintaining 100% mission readiness during critical projects.
He then joined ABS, managing port operations in Singapore, Indonesia and Malaysia. He also oversaw business operations in the Pacific Division’s Northern Region, which covers South Korea, Japan, Guam and the Philippines. As Principal Surveyor at Sembawang Shipyard in Singapore, Ilteris led major offshore exploration and exploitation projects. At Jurong Shipyard, he was responsible for leading floating production storage and offloading conversions, conducting audits and training junior staff, as well as contributing to safety improvement initiatives across Southeast Asia.
Ilteris progressed to several key leadership positions at ABS, including Assistant Chief Surveyor for the Pacific, Asia, Middle East and Africa, Regional Director of Operations for the Middle East and Africa, and Assistant Chief Surveyor for Corporate Class.
Ilteris holds a Bachelor of Science in Marine Engineering, magna cum laude, from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and a Master of Business Administration from the National University of Singapore.
