Rostom Merzouki is the Vice President of Sustainability at ABS. His team is responsible for developing, implementing and overseeing ABS’ sustainability strategy and initiatives. This critical role helps ensure that ABS operates responsibly and positively contributes to the maritime industry while carrying out the company’s safety mission.
Merzouki has over three decades of experience in the marine industry, with a distinguished career that spans sailing, engineering, project management and vessel management. He worked at Maersk, where he served on gas carriers, floating production storage and offloading units, tankers, offshore supply vessels and platform supply vessels, before concluding his sailing career as a Chief Engineer.
After transitioning to shore-based roles, he served at one of the largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) carrier companies globally, where he was instrumental in managing Q-Max and Q-Flex vessels. Beyond fleet management, Rostom led pivotal strategic projects spanning the delivery of newbuild LNG carriers, complex dual-fuel conversion programs, asset acquisitions, and spearheading sustainability and decarbonization initiatives. His contributions have consistently focused on advancing green shipping technologies and driving industry-wide environmental responsibility.
Merzouki holds a Chief Engineer’s dual license and a Master of Science in Marine Engineering from the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow.
