STAMATIS FRADELOS

VICE PRESIDENT, REGULATORY AFFAIRS

Stamatis Fradelos is the Vice President of Regulatory Affairs at ABS. In this role, he serves as the ABS interface with the International Maritime Organization (IMO), flag Administrations and the International Association of Classification Societies (IACS). He is responsible for facilitating the application of regulations and maintaining ABS and clients’ awareness of regulatory issues being progressed and developed internationally.

Fradelos is also a member of the IACS Board of Directors, the IACS Council and the IACS Sub-Committee on Quality Policy, participating in IACS governance and strategic decisions.

Fradelos began his career as a marine field surveyor at the Hellenic Register of Shipping, where he worked for five years. He then spent six years at Lloyd’s Register as a plan approval engineer and two years at Det Norske Veritas as a business development manager and regional bulk carriers segment director.

He has held various positions at ABS, including Principal Engineer with the Environmental Performance Team, Manager of Advisory Services and Director of Business Development, before serving in his current role.

Stamatis holds a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Technology and Science, and Engineering – Economic Systems. He is a fellow of the Royal Institution of Naval Architects and a Chartered Engineer of the U.K. Engineering Council.
