ABS presented on the future of classification through advanced inspection technologies in its booth exhibit at the Offshore Technology Conference (OTC) in Houston from May 1-4, 2017. The 30-ft by 30-ft ABS booth entertained a steady flow of traffic during the event. ABS in-booth presentations gave visitors a peek into the future of classification and the role that wearables and drones could play. Leveraging data to support safer and less intrusive surveys was the key message, with mention of benefits associated with operating uptime and efficiencies. ABS Engineer Julie Pray and ABS Aspire Engineer Marcia Lee, along with representatives from Sky-Futures and DronePro, presented on and demonstrated the technologies.

ABS was also well-represented in the technical sessions at OTC with 10 presentations, two posters and three panel speakers/moderators. Additionally, Director of cyber security John Jorgensen led a Topical Breakfast Session about risk-based cyber security and the measureable effects on offshore assets.  Vice President of Marketing and Communications Cathy Mann moderated the special networking event “WISE: Women in the Industry Sharing Experiences.”

Complementing the updated brand in the ABS booth was a new offshore-specific touchscreen program. The interactive experience included information about ABS technologies and services, allowing users to enter contact details and request more information on specific topics.
