ABS China Academy Provides Training on Classification Surveys and Engineering Requirements to Jinhai Heavy Industry

On 7–8 May and 14–15 May, the ABS Greater China Division (GCD) provided four days of training to Jinhai Heavy Industry at their premises. Nearly 100 participants, most of whom are production workers, designers and quality inspectors took advantage of this tailor-made course.

This course differed from the specialized training ABS provided earlier to Jinhai Heavy Industry as it is the first structured course provided to the shipyard on classification surveys and engineering requirements for new construction. Trainers from ABS spent two weekends delivering this course, which covered an introduction to statutory conventions including load line, SOLAS, and MARPOL, and ABS requirements for hull, machinery, outfitting, and electrical systems. In addition to theoretical knowledge, the course included case studies to enhance participants’ practical understanding.

Eric Kleess, President and COO of ABS GCD, attended the closing ceremony of the training and delivered ABS Academy Certificates of Completion to the trainees.
