ABS Joined Industry Discussions on Technology Innovation and Collaboration at Leading Deepwater Industry Event in France

ABS has supported the MCE Deepwater Development (MCEDD) event for many years with Ken Richardson, ABS’ Executive Vice President, Energy Project Development, and ABS’ Vice President, Offshore, Darren McQuillan serving as members of the MCEDD Advisory Board. This year’s event was hosted by TOTAL in Pau, France.

The event brought together around 450 strategic decision makers from the deepwater oil and gas market at a time where innovative technologies and industry collaboration are set to play a critical role in driving efficiency and reducing costs to ensure that deepwater is competitive.

On the opening day, ABS’ Dr Hoseong Daniel Lee, Vice President of Special Projects joined the panellists from Shell, TOTAL, SHI, Technip and WG Mustang to discuss “Industry Collaboration: Standardization in Offshore Design”.  He shared the latest on ABS’ joint industry project with Hyundai Heavy Industries, Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering, Samsung Heavy Industries and major oil and gas companies to develop the harmonized international design standards for offshore oil and gas projects.

ABS’ Harish Patel, Technical Advisor – Corporate Offshore Technology – Drilling and Process, presented on “Verification and Validation Challenges of HP/HT BOP and Well Control Equipment” at the session on deepwater well control, efficiency and safety.
