ABS Singapore Hosts Port State Control Seminar

On 17 June, ABS hosted the annual Port State Control (PSC) seminar in Singapore together with Australia Maritime Safety Authority, Marshall Islands Registry, Maritime Port Authority of Singapore, Panama Maritime Authority and the United States Coast Guard.

More than 170 marine and offshore professionals attended the seminar, where attendees heard the latest regulatory updates and were informed about, operational considerations for vessels trading in the United States, Australia and Singapore waters. The presentations included information about common port state deficiencies that lead to vessel intervention and detention and global detention prevention.

A live interactive question and answer platform used during the event allowed attendees to submit anonymous questions for the speakers through their mobile devices. The top five most-asked questions were addressed for each presentation.

“ABS is proud to bring together speakers from governing bodies and both Port and Flag states that the marine and offshore industries work with to discuss PSC concerns and issues,” said David Gan, Singapore Country Manager of ABS Pacific Division. “ABS will continue to create common platforms to discuss these types of issues and share valuable insight.”
