ABS Seminar Series on Operational and Environmental Performance

More than 100 shipowners, operators and ship management companies joined ABS at a series of seminars in Athens, Geneva and Genoa on 14, 15 and 16 February to hear the latest on Operational and Environmental Performance. 

ABS has developed solutions and services related to vessel performance which were presented at these three events.

ABS personnel provided an insight into how we are working with clients to assist with vessel performance management and the EU MRV requirements. By necessity, the shipping industry is adopting a more energy-efficient transportation model. ABS is providing guidance and new tools to aid ship owners and operators make informed decisions along the way.

Soren Hansen, Assistant Director, Vessel Performance, provided an overview on the purpose of having a Vessel Performance Management System with demonstrations of the ABS Vessel Performance software working in real time.

In addition, Jan Otto De Kat, Director Energy Efficiency discussed ABS capabilities on the development of energy efficient designs and evaluation of different solutions from a techno-economical perspective.

This seminar concluded with an overview of the forthcoming IMO and US environmental regulatory changes and implementation challenges, both near and longer term. This included an MRV update, “How to Comply”.

The high attendance at these seminars highlights the importance placed on environmental regulatory issues, compliance and performance by ship owners and operators

The ABS seminar program is integral to the provision of advice and practical guidance on the implications and implementation of new maritime regulations.
