ABS Gas Focus 2018 Helps Qatari Shipowners Evaluate Gas Options
ABS hosted a high-level seminar in Doha, Qatar to help shipowners and operators evaluate the long-term potential, technical and operational challenges and opportunities for gas as a marine fuel.
“LNG as a fuel is revolutionizing the shipping industry and will continue to expand further as shipowners and operators look to comply with the latest environmental requirements,” said ABS Regional Vice President, Darren Leskoski.
The ABS Global Gas team discussed market trends and ongoing projects; regulations and environmental emissions impact; fuel containment, gas supply systems and engine options; benefits, challenges and risk mitigations facing the early adopters; LNG bunkering and simultaneous operations as well as Flag State acceptance.
Part of a global series, the one-day event has also been held in various cities in Europe, Singapore, China, Korea and Japan. Forums like this help drive industry dialogue and provide a vital platform to share experiences and discuss evolving technology.
