ABS Gathers Industry Leaders to Discuss Updates on ABS and the Industry

ABS just completed its final national committee meeting in the Pacific region. Meetings in Korea, Japan, India and Southeast Asia focused ABS class services and the innovations ABS is offering to the industry and also the general market outlook. ABS Executive Vice President & COO, Tony Nassif opened the meetings in Korea and Japan with ABS Vice President, Global Marine, Peter Fitzpatrick sharing updates on Global Sulphur Cap 2020 Impact on Global Shipping.

Korea National Committee (KNC) Meeting on September 23, 2017

In Korea, ABS Pacific President John McDonald, and ABS Country Manager, Korea, Myung Jai Joo, presented updates on ABS Pacific Division and Korea respectively. The 2017 KNC golf tournament was held on September 23 after the committee meeting and President of Sinokor, Mr. Yong-Seon Choi won the tournament.

Japan National Committee (JNC) Meeting on October 6, 2017

In Japan, the meeting was led by the committee chairman and Counselor of Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, Mr. Akimitsu Ashida. McDonald and ABS Vice President, Japan, Akira Akiyama presented on the Updates of ABS Pacific Division and Japan respectively and a special presentation on LPG as Fuel was led by Managing Director of Astomos Energy Mr. Kaname Ichima.

Following the meeting, the 27th ABS Japan friendship golf tournament was held at Daihakone country club. More than 100 guests participated in the tournament and President of First Marine Service Co., Ltd., Mr. Masahiro Kanno won the tournament. 

India National Committee (INC) Meeting, October 12, 2017

In India, the ABS India national committee chairman, Chairman and MD of the Shipping Corporation of India (SCI), Capt. Anoop Kumar Sharma welcomed all the members and presented the general market outlook.  ABS Executive Vice President, Global Marine, Kirsi Tikka presented on ABS Moving forward and shared updates on Global Sulphur Cap 2020 Impact on Global Shipping.

 

Southeast Asia Regional Committee (SEARC) Meeting, October 14, 2017

The ABS SEARC chairman, President and CEO of MISC Berhad, Mr. Yang Chien YEE delivered the meeting opening speech followed by Nassif and Tikka on ABS Moving forward as well as updating the Global Sulphr Cap 2020 Impact on Global Shipping.  ABS Senior Principal Engineer, Advisory Services, MeiYan SOH presented updates on Ballast Water Regulations.  Special guest, Jon Fredrik from Rystad Energy was invited to speak on ‘How Shale is Affecting Commercial & Offshore Shipping.’
