More than 200 attendees representing the shipping industry gathered in Istanbul on December 6th and Athens on November 1st to hear the latest update on environmental regulatory changes and learn more about compliance options.

The events were led by Stamatis Fradelos, ABS Business Development Director, who provided an overview of the outcomes from MEPC 73 and outlined key implications for shipowners and operators including system commissioning tests and contingency planning under the Ballast Water Management (BWM) Convention, the latest information on fuel oil availability and quality assurance in advance of the 2020 Global Sulphur Cap, and proposed changes impacting energy efficiency requirements and other air emissions-related topics.

The agenda also included presentations on the development of a Ship Implementation Plan and Risk Assessment, Techno-Economic Analysis, LPG as Fuel and BWM operational and installation best practices.
