ABS Presents on Offshore Asset Life Extension at Rio Oil and Gas 2018
Director of Global Offshore Production Luiz Feijo presented at the Rio Oil & Gas 2018. This conference is the largest oil and gas event in Latin America.
As the offshore industry continues its recovery, owners and operators seek to maximize the return on their capital investments by extending the service life of ageing offshore assets.
Feijo’s presentation addressed the many challenges that operators face when seeking to extend the service life of deepwater floating facilities. While the life extension process can save operators on the significant costs of commissioning a new asset, the life extension process can be complex. Feijo described this process in detail including the necessary analytical work, asset integrity management principles and inspection activities.
“An effective life extension methodology needs to be applied to support safer, continued service of the units in a way that mitigates risk and minimizes productivity loss. At ABS, we can help conduct a thorough assessment of the asset and determine if the asset has the structural and mechanical integrity to safety operate beyond its design life,” Feijo stated.
