ABS participated in both the Smart Tug Operations Conference on September 16 and the Asian Offshore Supply Journal (OSJ) Conference from September 17-18
in Singapore.
At the Smart Tug Operations Conference, Dr. Christina Wang, Vice President, Global Marine from ABS presented on “Implementation of Smart Functions to Achieve Safer and More Sustainable Operations.” In addition to presenting on the ABS Guide for Smart Functions for Marine Vessels and Offshore Units, she also spoke on how evolving smart technologies can offer new solutions to fleets.
She also spoke about how the implementation of smart functions can enable more informed decisions and how companies can achieve safer and more sustainable operations through applications of smart technology. Dr. Wang also participated in the panel discussion entitled, “How can players all come together to agree on a specific standard smart technologies?”.
During the Asian Offshore Supply Journal Conference, which ABS has supported for many years, Keith Yeo, ABS Manager for Machinery Engineering delivered a presentation on LNG as marine fuel.
Yeo presented on the benefits of using LNG as marine fuel as well as recent development in the use of LNG and related fuels for shipping. He also explained to participants the different ship types that use LNG as fuel and some of the technical challenges in meeting safety and design standards for LNG vessels.
ABS also sponsored the cocktail reception at the Asian OSJ Conference during which ABS representatives had the opportunity to network with other professionals in the industry.
