ABS has issued an Approval-in-Principle (AIP) to DeltaLifter DL-8000 from International Contract Engineering Limited. ABS Vice President, Engineering, Roy Bleiberg and ABS Manager, Offshore Engineering, Senthil Chidambaram presented Steiner Draegebo, Chairman, ICE Marine Design, with the AIP certificate at ABS’ global headquarters.

The DeltaLifter DL-8000 is a novel L-shaped vessel providing single-lift and transportation technology for removal of decommissioned fixed offshore steel platform substructures and installation of wind turbine foundations.

ABS conducted an independent review of the submitted documents with respect to various aspects including structures, stability and marine system. ABS found that the proposed design and methodologies are feasible in principle, and that the conceptual engineering as proposed is compliant with the requirements of ABS Rules.
