ABS hosted its 3rd Annual Singapore Technology Forum titled Navigating Opportunities: Building Trusted Maritime Technology Pathways.
Industry leaders from around the region joined specialists from the ABS Technology at the Four Seasons Hotel to hear updates on the latest maritime technologies and solutions.
The conference began with guest of honor Chin Yi Zhuan, Deputy Chief Executive (Industry and Corporate), MPA, who delivered the keynote address.
Dr. Gu Hai, ABS Vice President of Technology, Pacific, presented the Navigating the Future: ABS’s Work in Technology and Innovation.
Interactive sessions called Innovation Showcases featured a mix of presenters from ABS and outside organizations. Subjects included dynamic emergency planning; vessel performance assessments; artificial intelligence in maritime; smart technologies in shipbuilding; and class perspectives on autonomy.
Guest speakers from Sea Forrest, Mencast Marine, National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University delivered presentations on ammonia dispersion; batteries and electrification; additive manufacturing; and risk prediction using AI.
The  panel discussion was titled Shaping the Future: AI, Autonomy and Innovation in Maritime Operations and was moderated by Dr. Gu Hai.
Thomas Ting, Chief Digital Officer, MPA; Jinmo Park, Senior Manager (Autonomous Control Research / Team Leader), Avikus Co., Ltd.; and Dr. Nigel Koh, Senior Director, TCOMS; emphasized how autonomous technologies aim to enhance efficiency and safety. They also examined the current state of maritime autonomy, the barriers to adoption and Singapore's role in fostering these advancements.
The conference concluded with a networking lunch, giving attendees an opportunity to collaborate and share insights on the topics of the day.
