Amendments to EU MRV Regulation 2015/757

This Regulatory News provides an overview of the new Regulation (EU) 2023/957 which amends Regulation (EU) 2015/757 on monitoring, reporting and verification of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions from maritime transport. The amendments include the inclusion of methane (CH₄) and nitrous oxide (N₂O) emissions and the extension of the regulation to cover offshore ships above 400 GT and general cargo ships with GT between 400 ≤ GT ≤ 5,000.

The document outlines key changes, reporting requirements, compliance actions and potential enforcement measures for ship operators. These amendments aim to ensure the effectiveness of the EU Emissions Trading System (EU ETS) and the monitoring of greenhouse gas emissions from ship trading in EU/EAA ports.
