2023 International Code of Safety for Diving Operations

To promote the safety of divers in saturation and to achieve a standard of safety comparable to other seagoing personnel, the IMO adopted the International Code of Safety for Diving Operations on 05 June 2023 for entry into force on 01 January 2024. This updated code follows a goal-based standard approach and addresses various types of diving systems and diving platforms.

This Regulatory News update provides guidance on application of the 2023 IMO Diving Code, a summary of key changes compared to the previous 1995 IMO Diving Code and actions for compliance under the new, two-part certification scheme addressing both stand-alone diving systems as well as integrated diving platforms and diving systems.
