Tokyo and Paris MoU Joint CIC for 2025 on Ballast Water Management

The Tokyo MoU and Paris MoU have announced that the focus of this year's joint Concentrated Inspection Campaign (CIC) will be on Ballast Water Management. From September 1 to November 30, 2025, Port State Control officers will verify key areas, including certification, Ballast Water Management Plan (BWMP) approval and updates, crew familiarity, system operation, record-keeping, sediment management and exemptions. This campaign aims to ensure compliance with the mandatory requirements of the International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships' Ballast Water and Sediments, 2004 (BWM Convention) and promote its effective implementation. A pre-defined questionnaire will guide the inspections, and each ship will undergo only one CIC inspection during the campaign. The joint press release and questionnaire may be found here.
