IMO bauxite liquefaction dangers

The IMO issued a news release warning bulk carrier owners/operators of the possible dangers of liquefaction associated with carriage of bauxite. Bauxite, currently classified as a cargo that does not liquefy under the IMSBC Code, is being re-assessed by IMO in light of the investigation into the loss of the Bulk Jupiter, which sank rapidly in January 2015 while carrying 46,400 tons of bauxite.
