ABS wishes to bring to the attention of vessel owners, operators, offshore facility managers, and other stakeholders a recent safety recall issued by the original equipment manufacturer (OEM), Draeger Safety UK Limited, concerning certain "Saver CF" Emergency Escape Breathing Devices (EEBDs).
Affected Equipment
The recall applies to Draeger "Saver CF" EEBDs with serial numbers: BSUD-0001 through BSUK-9999." According to the manufacturer, these units were produced between April 2025 and September 2025.
Reason for the Recall
Draeger has identified a potential issue that may result in insufficient air volume being delivered to the hood, which could lead to a buildup of carbon dioxide (CO₂) within the hood during use.
Recommended Action
Draeger advises that any EEBDs matching the above model and serial number range should be removed from service immediately, where practicable, and replaced in accordance with the manufacturer's guidance.
