This Guide contains provisions for the certification of lifting appliances installed aboard vessels and/or offshore floating/fixed units classed by ABS, includign cranes, base-mounted manriding winches, self-unloading cargo gear on Great Lakes vessels, shipboard elevators, and bow, stern and sideport ramps and moveable platforms.

For design, construction, and survey after construction of the floating installation (including hull structure, equipment and marine machinery), the position mooring system and the hydrocarbon production facilities.

This Guide for Nondestructive Inspection was originally published in 1975 and subsequently updated in 1986, 2002, 2011, 2017 and 2018. 

The objective of this Guide is to provide Classification criteria for the arrangements, construction, installation and survey of machinery, equipment and systems for vessels operating with ammonia as fuel in order to minimize risks to the vessel, crew and environment. 

These Rules contain the technical requirements and criteria employed by ABS in the review and survey of hydrocarbon production facilities that are being considered for Classification and for maintenance of Classification.
